Back in July we sent out a newsletter highlighting the need for upgrading a solar power system in Crève, Haiti. Here's an excerpt:
With all the turmoil in Haiti right now, the outlook for the country is bleak. Up in the northwest, though, the witness of MEBI Haiti Missions, remains strong. The medical clinic continues to deliver essential health services, especially for pregnant women and young mothers. The children’s home provides safety and care for at-risk children, the schools provide quality education, and the church draws people to faith, worship, reconciliation, and mission.

This is sacrificial work. Because of rising prices and declining revenue, staff went for more than 2 months without pay. That’s commitment! But people already living on the margins can only survive so long without income. Thankfully, generous donors over the last month gave enough to cover the immediate shortfall. Not only that, but enough funding came in for MEBI to buy new batteries for its solar power system! That will power their pumps again, providing fresh water to all their ministries. At the moment they have to travel to buy water, which is both expensive and dangerous. Having their own fresh water will make things much safer, and also lower their costs, bringing them closer to sustainability. So many thanks to all our faithful donors!
Today we received some wonderful news! The new batteries for the solar power system have been purchased and installed, so now the work in Crève will have low cost, dependable power for the next 6 to 7 years!
Once again, thank you for helping make this possible!
